How Music Changed My Life - 1513 Words

Music has always been an appealing part of my life for as long as I can remember. When I was younger, I was desperate for my parents to purchase me a small set of drums in hopes that I would join a rock band within the near future. Even in elementary school, playing the recorder and learning how each note works was a fond experience that I can recall. It wasn’t until the start of middle school where I began to actually learn how to correctly play an instrument for the first time. At that time, I was loud and obnoxious, often blurting out jokes during inappropriate moments, resulting with me getting sent to the back of the room to evaluate my actions. But that’s the point where I truly realized music changed my life. I wanted to change, and work to becoming both a better musician, as well as a better person. Going into the next year, I was still loud and obnoxious, but at the same time, I had become more focused and determined into achieving a goal. I practiced almost ev ery day, improving my skills and discovering new intermediate techniques such as â€Å"staccato† and â€Å"vibrato†. It only got better in high school when I participated in the school’s advanced symphonic orchestra and award-winning show and jazz choir, as well as being a supporting and leading actor in multiple musical shows. Music saved my life, and I don’t know where I would be without it. Nathaniel Ayers takes this to a whole other level.
